Thread #1 (on the lib/con imbalance in the academy and its causes):

Thread #2 (on whether college indoctrination is a thing):
The findings:

1) The faculty imbalance between right/Republicans and left/Democrats is real.
2) Discrimination is, at most, a minor factor. Mainly it's self-selection.
3) Students are not indoctrinated. They're just not.

So what are the big lessons of all this?
1) Outfits like Quillette, College Fix, and TPUSA make their bucks by flogging the "My Marxist prof is trying to brainwash me" beat. Ignore them. Those stories are either false or exceptional and in no way representative of the vast majority of student experiences.
2) Faculty have far less influence on student values than we may think. That includes not only whether students become politically left or right, but whether they become political at all. Boo.

And 3) The current strategy being pursued by groups like @HdxAcademy is not going to work. If they're really serious about increasing viewpoint diversity in the academy, they should be lobbying schools to become more family friendly.
I'm talking couples housing for grad students, subsidized healthcare for spouses and dependents, and on-campus daycare, all of which will attract conservatives. Everything else Heterodox is doing, no matter how well intentioned, won't even make a difference. That's the truth.
It's also all I got. End of tweets. For real.

*phew*
