This doesn't mention me directly, but it's obviously directed at me. And since it reflects the objections that many people had to my thread, it merits a response.
Objection #1: What about Trump/Orban/Brexit/Bolsonaro?

What about them? Yascha knows better than anyone that the illiberal/authoritarian turn in consolidated democracies long precedes contemporary SJW activism. See Brownlee 2002, Wright 2008, Levitsky and Murillo 2013.
As for populism in Europe and the United States, that too predates any kind of social justice activism. In fact, its rise is probably due much more to neoliberal failures (e.g. austerity) than left-liberal ones.

And anyway, does any political scientist really believe that the collapse of Hungarian or Russian democracy is due in any meaningful way to social justice activism? As opposed to, say, a failed democratic transition or the 2015 migrant crisis?
Objection #2: "Just you wait!"

Maybe! Maybe there will be a backlash eventually. In the meantime, the gains have been incredibly heartening. SJW activism may not be the principle cause, but it sure isn't an obstacle.

Objection #3: Not everyone who opposes SJ activism is a bigot.

I agree! In fact, my thread was *explicitly* directed to those who broadly support the aims of the Social Justice Left, but merely disagree with its methods.

That's it.
