This is a really important question & I think the answer lies somewhere in Christ's command to "love your neighbor as yourself."
At least this is the logic that Paul uses in calling husbands to love their wives--care for them the way you care for your own body. Care for them the way Christ cares for his body.
Purity culture works on a completely different logic. It calls you to hate & distrust your body.
I think it's completely possible to reach an ethic that reserves sex for marriage via call to love our neighbors as ourselves, but this means excavating our hidden assumptions about love, our bodies, & marriage.
The shame & trauma associated w/ purity culture has very little to do w/ reserving sex for marriage & everything to do w/ underlying Gnosticism, spiritual control, & a prosperity gospel that rewards adherents for their good behavior & punishes them for their bad.

Reading this reminded me of first time I engaged w/ the Magnificant in any meaningful way (despite having grown up in church that taught me to love Scripture)
I was writing a paper for college class (Bible as Lit) when I 1st saw connection btwn Hannah's prayer (recorded in I Samuel 2 & Psalm 113) & Mary's
As controversial as Mary's prayer is (what w/ the proud cast down & rich sent away empty), Hannah's prayer is even more so, especially given the immediate context

Thinking a lot about class, leadership, & discipleship recently & realized we need a category of "upper working class"--folks who have roots in poverty or lower working class but aspire to middle class.
Something really distinct is happening in this group, especially as it relates to establishment culture & their own attempts to advance in it.
Class differences aren't simply about economics & education. They also reflect access (or lack of access) to the social institutions & broader system.

Some more Torah on our absolute obligation to non-citizens, to immigrants, to the vulnerable migrants in our midst.

גר ger can be translated as an alien, a sojourner, an immigrant, a stranger, a non-citizen, and in later Rabbinic thinking, a convert to Judaism.
It made sense that what was the "non-citizen with local power" in the context of having some local sovereignty might become 'a religious convert" in times and places where Diaspora Jews were not in charge--very much not in charge--and didn't have that same institutional power.
Every Orthodox dude who wants to argue that "care for the ger" in the Torah means "converts" has to explain why "for you were gerim in the land of Egypt" is the ending clause of these verses. Doesn't make sense. Israelites were not converts to Egyptian religion. Don't.

a little background first: roda viva is a brazilian roundtable interview program that's been around for many years. they assemble a panel of interviewers and one guest, per episode. they are well-known for interviewing political figures+
before the 1st round of voting,& even before the VP choices were announced, they interviewed all the presidential candidates - save Lula, who was imprisoned by then. Bolsonaro was the last candidate to agree to an interview (after lots of roasting by the public & his opponents)+
at the time of these earlier interviews, lula was still the main presidential candidate for PT. haddad had not yet been designated as VP (which they did for a little bit on a provisional basis), not as the main presidential candidate (which is the case now)+

Leaving aside SQLite's source material for their so-called CoC, it's not actually a CoC or enforceable in any way. There's no way to address behavior that violates the Rule of Saint Benedict. I wonder why...
Oh, wait, I don't! It's because the Rule of Saint Benedict is designed to work for a very small community (i.e. a monastery) entirely comprised of people who have already agreed to live by the same rules.
Rules based on a shared faith, by the way — intended to improve an adherent's relationship with a Christian god. I'm not against religious communities, but they are clearly fundamentally different than open source communities.
