Been waiting for this day since @moody first told me about it. If you've been holding off on getting #AllThatsGood, here's your chance!
As a reader, I love a good #ebook sale. And as an author, I love a good ebook sale. Here's why:
At first glance, authors shouldn't like it when their books go on sale b/c they make % of profit. Lower price=lower cut.
But this thinking is based in a scarcity mindset that says there's a limited number of sales, limited # of readers, so I have to keep price fixed to optimize the amount of $ I can get from them.
I prefer to assume that there's an whole host of readers that haven't yet been persuaded to read my books & part of the job is finding them & persuading them.
If I've created something truly worth reading, the goal isn't to *trick* people into buying my work, but connecting w/ the right people & offering them a message that I believe would benefit them.
Something like an ebook sale, offers new readers the chance to test my work w/ minimum level of investment. And *IF* I've created something truly worth reading, I'll gain a reader.
I view sales & promotions as an opporutnity to invite new & hesitant readers to test my writing & ideas. If they don't like what they experience, there's little lost for either of us. They're probably not in core audience & wouldn't benefit from my other work either.
This isn't an argument against paying authors for their work. (PAY AUTHORS FOR THEIR WORK!) This is an apologetic for protecting the author/reader relationship from a scarcity mindset.
Left to the marketplace, the author/reader relationship quickly becomes manipulative & adversarial. Authors are pushed to sell at all cost (even selling themselves) & readers are trained to look for free content.
But I think the author/reader relationship can be mutually beneficial. My job is to write something of value for readers. If I do, new readers will become old readers who tell their friends & support my work financially.
All that to say, if you haven't yet bought/read #AllThatsGood, please check it out. The ebook is currently $1.99. I'm convinced that the message will help you see the world differently & discover a whole lot of goodness that you might be missing. amzn.to/2rdJ90y
