I am not a big Avenatti fan and I don’t want him holding office, but it should be noted that while the vast majority of journalists and politicians are still lost trying to figure out how to navigate Trumpism, Avenatti understands the game. 
Trumpism doesn’t give points for protocol and it doesn’t care about bothsides. All those cherished norms journos keep hiding behind have been weaponized against the truth and most journalists seem to prefer clinging to norms than aggressively advancing truth.
There are no points for second place when the guy in first place is trying to stomp you down and smother you out of existence. We are in a fight for the life of our country. Avenatti gets that. Too many others seem to think it’s just another cycle or horse race.
So yeah, his carnival barking turns me off, but I’ll take him any day of the week and twice on Sunday to the talking heads that are still playing bothsides games, even as I hope that we don’t get to a point where I have to vote for a carnival barker to keep us from fascism.
