This is a series of heartbreaking accounts of rape. So sorry this happened to every Holton woman in this story. We hear you.
I know that cruel things happened at my private DC high school, and probably, undoubtedly, things worse than what I am aware. But I've never felt more strongly correct about my refusal to go to an all-girls HS. I felt then...
based on gut, mainly, that girls at those schools were not always but too often being directed in to Mrs. lives or this kind of treatment. In co-ed schools there is a better chance of boys seeing classmates as people, even super close friends.
It's easier for girls to look out for each other when they know the other girls. Good guys to stand up to the bad guys when it's over girls you know. I know single-sex schools have been good for some but, like frats and sororities, too often it goes like this.
