As someone else noted, trial lawyers are used to seeing this in ways other people aren't. I just had someone testify movingly and convincingly that he was on a tech-free prayer retreat on the same day I have emails from him to my client.
I had one of my own clients break down on the stand after his business failed, explaining how he and his wife had put everything into it, and the defendant had withheld critical materials needed to run the franchise.

Also, I withdrew 20 minutes later because it was not true.
In the first case, I think he had his memory a little skeevy because of an intervening head trauma and the religious experience he described; in the latter, that dude was nuts on stilts.

Humans can feel deeply about, and believe passionately, things that aren't true.
I'm avoiding watching a hearing over which I have no say and which will only raise my blood pressure as I watch politicians play block-and-tackle on a process they demanded, so I can't say how credible the witnesses are. I'm just here to tell you that don't take empathy for truth
