In addition to Gore, DOJ asks #SCOTUS also to halt a deposition of Commerce Sec. Wilbur Ross. That deposition order has been temporarily stayed, pending 2nd Circuit review, but DOJ says it's including that b/c it's worried about the timing if 2nd Circ doesn't uphold the stay.
As with other stay applications, the requests first go to the justice assigned to that circuit — here, Justice Ginsburg — who can act alone or refer the matter to the full court (as generally happens with significant requests).
