In the wake of yesterday's contentious hearing involving Concord in the Russian troll farm case, Concord's lawyers are STILL AT IT, in a new filing that could be one sentence and instead is four pages: documentcloud.org/documents/5677…

Concord's lawyers say that Judge Dabney Friedrich created "at a minimum an appearance of bias or prejudice in favor of the government" yesterday.
Concord's lawyers also claim they have received threats since yesterday's hearing. And then they troll @maddow.

Of course, you need a vacancy to have a vacancy. And, from all that we know and have been told, Justice Ginsburg's surgery was successful at removing the nodules, there is no other evidence of disease, and she is working from home and is planning to return to work. But ...
... Politico's reporting is not telling us about Ginsburg's status. It's telling us about what the White House and Sen. Graham's committee are already doing should there be a vacancy. And that — and the fact that it's happening — is news.

In the grand jury subpoena matter, over the past 24 hours, the Post has reported — washingtonpost.com/politics/court… — that the corporation is "a foreign financial institution" and CNN has reported — cnn.com/2019/01/09/pol… — that lawyers from Alston & Bird have been involved in the case.

BREAKING: Supreme Court denies the foreign country-owned company's request to stay a contempt order resulting from its refusal to comply with a grand jury's subpoena. Chief Justice Roberts' "administrative stay" is vacated, so the result is the contempt order is back in effect.
That order of the court follows this request, made Monday but put on the docket today, to file a cert petition in the case under seal. Not clear what will happen with that now, but the contempt order (and associated fines) will now be back in place.

Remember how a judge slammed the lawyer repping Concord Management in the Mueller Russian troll farm case on Monday (see: buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetil…) and then had a brief sealed proceeding. The transcript has been unsealed, here's what went down:
The judge said in open court that she was sealing the room to talk about Concord's motion to compel discovery re: how Mueller's office got info that Concord said was confidential. The govt had asked to respond under seal, saying they'd need to discuss a pending grand jury matter
After the courtroom was closed (and we were all kicked out), Judge Friedrich started to ask Concord's lawyer Eric Dubelier a question, but he said he wasn't prepared for a motion hearing, and also needed to talk to his client about the judge's criticism of his conduct

Some fireworks in court this morning as a judge criticized the lawyer representing Concord Management & Consulting in the special counsel Russian troll farm case for his language and harsh words about Mueller's office in filings — "unprofessional, inappropriate, and ineffective"
The judge told attorney Eric Dubelier that his strategy was "ineffective" and that his approach to filings — including pop culture quotes (see: assets.documentcloud.org/documents/5676…) and accusing Mueller's office basically of lawlessness — was "undermining your credibility in this courthouse"
"Knock it off," Judge Dabney Friedrich told Dubelier. This then led to a heated exchange where Dubelier said he needed to consult his client since the judge had accused of unprofessional conduct, and now there might be bias from the judge. There's no bias, the judge replied.

New lawyer for the government in special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian troll farm case: Heather Alpino, who comes from DOJ's National Security Division
Oh, and Mueller's office just filed another notice of appearance for three more DOJ lawyers who will be repping the government in the Russian troll farm case. I've asked the special counsel's office for more info, will update if I hear back
One thing worth noting is that these lawyers are not being described as members of the special counsel's office — they could be working with Mueller's office from their respective offices
