back when I had an edtech startup one of the biggest problems we kept running into was how habituated educators had become to using bad software
it was so bad that they couldn't really conceive of software being easy to use. They were sure that it would involve sending an excel document to an email address to get even basic functions working
i see a lot of different kinds of habituation like ever since I experienced it for the first time.
the worst are probably the interpersonal ones. like when you're so used to people trying to sell you shit that anyone who seems excited must be inauthentic
or when you're so used to people letting you down you don't even risk looking for help
i bet many people who seem like jerks are just repeating behaviors they've learned through being habituated to bad situations.

i wonder how many people who seem nice are just terrified to be any other way
