What happened with @TheRestlessQuil is sexual harassment. Men in positions of power and working with her took advantage of their power and position to inflict themselves on her. The reason why I am making this distinction is because of some tweets I am seeing around
Trying to politely chat up someone because you like them or are attracted to them doesn’t qualify as harassment. As long as the person backs off when rebuffed. Sending unsolicited pictures of your genitals or asking for nudes is creepy, sleazy behaviour.
It all boils down to how someone makes you feel. Someone’s actions may not creep me out but if it creeps you out that doesn’t mean he isn’t creepy. He is creepy to you. Personally, I shrug off unsolicited attention. But other people have the right to take it more seriously.
Finally, let me also say seeking casual sex is also not a crime as long as you understand no and don’t become a creepy pest after being rebuffed. You do, however, run the risk of being slapped or shouted at. Insincerity isn’t harassment either.
