In 2016, Simona Mangiante was let go from her position at the European Parliament working on child abductions. Her friends and colleagues wrote a letter of support, saying that she worked at the European Ombudsman's office. No she didn't. I just got a statement from the office.

Official statement from the Ombudsman's office: "I'm afraid that the European Ombudsman never employed anyone named Simona Mangiante."
I've yet to hear back from the European Parliament but to be fair/balanced, it appears that Mangiante did work there. There are multiple contemporaneous accounts of her positions. She didn't work at Mayer Brown. She didn't work at the Ombudsman's office. She did work at the EP.
