(1/7): Someone said I have a great idea for an app. They asked what are the steps they should take to start developing. Before spending a dime, you need to know these 6 things

1. What’s your end goal in creating this app? Do you want to run the business? Do you want to exit?
2/7: 2. Find out if there is an app that already exists or a company who maybe is doing something similar even if it isn’t in app form.
This will be important because it will allow you to understand the competitive landscape and how you can strategize to leverage it or maneuver
3/7:
3. Customer discovery! You need to figure out if this app is actually solving a problem the industry is facing or that more than just you is experiencing. Even if it’s for convenience. This should be done before you spend a dime on creating it. If that checks out then next..
4/7:
4. Layout the functionality of your app. What you want it to do. All of the features. You need to understand exactly what you want to make it easier on the developer. Though they will help to pull it out, but atleast knowing the overall concept will speed the process up.
5/7:
5. Find a developer who has done the type of app you seek or has experience and can implement those features. Fiverr & upwork are great freelance sites. Make sure to read reviews. Also, going to software developer meetups allows you to connect with those in that space
6/7:
6. If you don’t really have a budget partner with that developer to make them the technical CoFounder of the app. They get equity, etc. but someone who believes in the vision and has the same passion to want to solve that problem.
7/7: In Conclusion just make sure you do the research and have a strategy laid out before you invest a lot of money in developing something that doesn’t solve a problem. And to take it one step further signup for @bria_sullivan course on building apps as a non-technical founder.
