We're not going to link to the @Oregonian's endorsement in the Governor's race.

We will, however, point out that it's the usual disingenuous, right-leaning claptrap from a paper that seems to pride itself on being wildly out of step with average Oregonians.

1/
In 2016, they begrudgingly endorsed @OregonGovBrown, but held her feet to the fire for not passing a transportation bill.

She has since been lauded for passing that transportation bill and gets no credit for it in their latest endorsement.

@KnuteBuehler voted against it.

2/
.@KnuteBuehler is credited for voting for ONE #GunSafety bill AFTER he declared his run for governor.

@KateBrownForOR is given NO credit for repeatedly sticking her neck out on this issue, vocally advocating for multiple bills, 3 of which she passed & signed into law.

3/
In 2015, after she signed universal background checks into law, @OregonGovBrown was burned in effigy on the capitol steps. She went on to pass 2 more #GunSafety bills in the next 2 years.

4/
On education, they credulously consume @KnuteBuehler's promises without noting that he voted AGAINST the last two education budgets.

5/
The @Oregonian came out AGAINST xenophobic measure 105, yet give @KnuteBuehler a pass on his support for it.

6/
In typical misogynistic fashion, @KnuteBuehler is given more credit for the things he SAYS than the things he DOES, while @OregonGovBrown's achievements go unmentioned.

We can't help but be reminded of the 2016 Presidential election, when a woman's record & qualifications were eclipsed by the empty words of her mediocre male opponent.

In that election, the @Oregonian refused to take sides.

8/
In 2000, they endorsed George W. Bush.

In 2014, they refused to endorse a candidate for Senate: "We find both Republican Monica Wehby and incumbent Democrat Jeff Merkley unsupportable."

Unsurprisingly, in both cases, a majority of Oregonians ignored them.

9/
The @Oregonian's editorial strategy seems to be "Contrarian for the sake of contrariness."

That they are able to do so with so much at stake, shows their alarming, tone-deaf privilege.

10/
Women, immigrants, minorities, LGBTQ and other marginalized communities all stand to suffer under two more years of draconian policy coming out of Washington, DC.

@KateBrownForOR could be our last protection against the worst of these offenses.

11/
This is the absolute wrong time to hand over our state government to the @GOP.

As much as the @Oregonian might like to stick its head in the sand, this race is NOT taking place in a vacuum.

It's all interconnected, and elections matter. Your vote matters. Use it wisely.
