Something from this morning's #YesOn6 rally stuck out to me: the open disdain for policies that encourage climate-friendly transportation. State Senator Pat Bates: "We will be forced to walk, ride our bikes or maybe catch that once in a while bus that comes our way."
And Diane Harkey: "This is just fraud. It's forcing you to take bikes, get on trains, hose off at the depot and try to get to work. That does not work. That does not work with my hair and heels. I cannot do that and I will not do that."
It's worth repeating: The success of San Diego's (and California's) efforts to curb greenhouse gas emissions depends on more people biking, walking and riding mass transit. Transportation accounts for 41 percent of state's emissions, per @AirResources. arb.ca.gov/cc/inventory/d…
