Cohn is right. There's no human right to motorcycles. So why don't we just ban motorcycles? You can make a far stronger case on safety ground for banning ALL motorcycles than you can for not allowing turbaned Sikhs to have a helmet exemption.
Riders without helmets have a 17% chance greater chance of being killed or injured. But motorcyclists are **500%** more likely to be killed than people in cars in Ontario. It's the motorcycle that's dangerous, not the lack of a helmet.
But of course, no one's arguing we should ban motorcycles because as a society we acknowledge that there are some dumb, unsafe things that are also fun. Turbaned Sikhs should also be allowed to participate in those same dumb, fun activities.
