0/ Good morning!

📡📻🌳

Broad—cast #6 is now live—
1/ At Millennium Station—

En route to our starting point.

Down the steps to track number 4. Down the steps to track number 5. Down the steps to track number 4. Down the steps to track number 5. Down the steps to track number 4. Down the steps to track number 5. Down the steps
2/ At 92nd St—

We are retracing our steps back to the Calumet River, our starting point for the day.
3/ At 90th—

A geodesic greenhouse at Urban Growers Farm.
4/ At 87th—

An abandoned velodrome at the western edge of South Works.
5/ At 86th—

A future city figuratively and literally in tatters.
6/ At 86th St & Green Bay Ave—

At the former main entrance to South Works. The guard house on the right—converted into the offices of the defunct Chicago Lakeside Development—is the only building left standing—apart from the ore walls.
7/ At 86th St—

A viewing platform for past and future ruins.
8/ Retracing just a tick down to 87th St—

First came Solo Cup. Then Chicago Lakeside Development. After them came 8080 Lakeshore. Atop these ruins upon ruins upon ruins upon ruins, might a @southworkspark take root where others have failed?
9/ At Steelworkers Park—

Taking in some fine picturesque views of Gary Works.
10/ At Steelworkers Park—

Radio silence for a bit as we complete our Autumn site visit for @southworkspark. Stay tuned in that channel for our report at a later date.
11/ At Park #566—

a park sprouting a city
12/ At Park #566—

And we’re back. We were not alone out there.
13/ At 78th St—

At least this dead ends into a public park.
14/ At Rainbow Beach Park—

We’re assuming the drinking fountain continuously running is not part of the STORMWATER FILTRATION PROJECT.
15/ At Rainbow Beach Park—

In the distance is a water crib, drawing out freshwater for the purification plant—located inside the public park—to be treated & pumped out into the city &—contaminated w/ lead along the way—out continuously from this fountain. #wastestreams
16/ At 75th St—

We’re laughing. And we’re crying.
17/ At the 75th on the Lake Condominiums—

Looking from this vanished public coastline out towards the vanishing point is Lake Point Tower, the Holy of Holies for lakefront land-grabbers.
18/ At 71st St—

Mile 0.
19/ At 67th St—

Going inland then.
20/ At Jackson Park—

And into golf country.
21/ At Jackson Park—

A country road in a city.
22/ At Jackson Park—

Where else would a country road in a city lead to but a farm in a park in a city.
23/ At Jackson Park—

You may already have guessed our next stop: south of the Obama Center site where the Chicago Park District intends to build a replacement track. They promised not to start until decision of Protect Our Parks lawsuit and federal review finished.
24/ At Jackson Park—

They broke their promise.
25/ At Jackson Park—

Guessing this is their idea of transparency.
26/ At Park Shore East Ct—
27/ At 57th St—

A museum in a park.
28/ At 51st St—

The Army Corps of Engineers as rock gardeners.
29/ At 47th St—
30/ At 41st Street Beach—

They say that behind every tree in a park is a comfort station.
31/ At 41st St—

One thing that really excites us about the 41st Street Pedestrian Bridge is that Drexel Boulevard—part of the historic boulevard system—is just three blocks from the other side. A quicker access to Washington Park.
32/ At 37th St—

Burning down the prairie.
33/ At 35th St—

ALL THE PED BRIDGES
34/ At 29th St—

“It is solved by walking.”
35/ At 14th St—

A planetarium in a park.
36/ At the Museum Campus—

Bellissimo!
37/ At the Queen’s Landing—

And that’s half a loop done of our walking, full—circle tour of the entire Chicago coastline.

Today’s broad—cast has ended. Next time we’ll head n***h.
