Ok. Time to change my mood. I’m currently making my own personal Ultimate Jukebox, a playlist of the biggest, definitive pop hits of our lifetime. From Beatles to Bieber. More Shake It Off than Stairway to Heaven. Big, fun pop. Taking suggestions now...🎸❤️
I had a rough draft of about 800 songs, which I’m playing in shuffle to root out any clunkers. I was cruising. Blank Space went into Come on Eileen into ....Bobby Goldsboro’s Honey??? But now we’re back on track with J. Geils’ Centerfold 🎸🎸🎸

I am a latte-drinking, Prius-driving, liberal Jew writer who works in Hollywood & supports universal healthcare, marriage equality, DACA and women’s reproductive rights.

That may make me a cultural stereotype.

I also love Texas bbq, college football, rock and roll, and the Constituon.

My point: there is no one definition of being an American.

And I’m deathly tired of the Right thinking only they can define who loves this country.
My likes also include the rule of law, democratic norms, free speech, a free unfettered press, checks and balances, an independent judiciary, the right to assemble and the right to dissent

Last I checked those were American Values. Not just yelling racist slogan in red ball caps

I’m not sure what’s changed. But this weekend is the first time that I’ve genuinely come to believe that a huge portion of America would accept Fascist-style tyranny. And I’ve never before thought that in my life. Not even for a second. And I’m 52.
The same day the President rages against due process & courts & the rule of law, polls show that 90% of GOP approve of Trump.

I’ve never felt more disconnected from more other Americans.

And more confused by the acceptance of behavior I’ve thought anathema to being American
Children are separated from families- no one cares

Babies are put in cages-no one cares

The President wants to rid of us of law, of courts, of due process- no one cares

He scapegoats foreigners for supposed crimes- no one cares

Does anyone care anymore?

1) As the dust begins to settle from Mueller's report on @GenFlynn, a few things are beginning to clarify. First, the stated crimes and the cruel and unusual punishment of an entire year from plea to sentencing,, fails to be proportionate.
2) Second, how can you prosecute a lesser crime, when a vast conspiracy of high crimes were employed to entrap an innocent man? Mueller is tarring himself with his own brush. Hold government employees to the highest standard? What about the standard of fairness, justice?
3) Think about it. We know that illegal surveillance was employed, illegal unmasking and illegal leaking, all high crimes committed against @GenFlynn. Not one word about those. Not the threat of investigation let alone prosecution. Where is his justice?

Ok time to weigh into this Naija public debt argument. Probably late on twitter street but this is for some of my followers who have asked for my opinion.

So how much is Nigeria actually owing the world? Let’s explain
As you may well know, our public debt profile (FG & sates) is divided into dollar & naira.

Dollar portion is $22b & used to be $10.3b as at June 2015 when PMB took over.

Naira portion is N15.6tr & used to be N10tr in June 2015
So dollar potion has risen by over 120% while naira portion has risen by over 56%.

This should be fairly easy for anyone to discern.

Tonight I want to talk about thankfulness. You would be amazed at how beneficial it is to be thankful every day. The Bible says “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Why do you think God would want that for you? Because he wants you to enjoy life. And the most enjoyable life of all is one filled with thankfulness. My wife struggles with this constantly. For me, it’s easy. I was born with a positive attitude. Not everyone is.
So, what do you do if thankfulness is not your default? You build a habit. Every day, set aside a time to think about what you’re thankful for. If you can’t think of anything else, look at the toilet. Do you have any idea how many people in the world don’t have one?
