Ever wonder why carrots are rarely sold in supermarkets with tops? (And if they are they often cost more?)

The tops continue to respire after harvest, drawing on the energy stores in the roots to keep alive, slashing their shelf life.

You are paying to off set the food waste.
Oh, that and, leaving the tops on appears more ‘heritage’, ‘unprocessed’ & ‘natural’ & so can be marketed at a higher price point. 🤦‍♂️
