Let me elaborate some points where you go wildly wrong, @CBCSunday. Michael Enright, you irresponsibly minimize the reach and effect that Bannon has strategically built for his brand of anti-Semitism and #whitesupremacy. 2/

Bannon has constructed an international network of anti-Semites and #whitesupremacists. You are dead wrong when you say, "That's an awful lot of social damage to be caused by the mutterings of a lone, right-wing American gas bag." 3/

You talk about caring for Canadian #democracy & suggest that handing Bannon the huge platform of @munkdebate is somehow democratic. That's utterly absurd. Cdn democracy means letting all with a stake in it speak, vote, organize. Bannon has no stake whatsoever in Cdn democracy. 4/

In other words, Cdn democracy doesn't owe Bannon any right to be invited to speak. Especially not on a well-publicized platform like @munkdebate. You quote George Orwell and seem sure he would have defended someone like Bannon's appearance. I'm pretty certain he wouldn't. 5/

Orwell adamantly wrote against #nationalism--by which he meant not just what we call nationalism in everyday parlance but all political & religious ideas that pose one's group as superior to another. Orwell wrote against all that Bannon stands for. 6/

Michael Enright, you concede that Bannon "does represent a school of thought, a vigorous and dangerous mindset that, if left to grow in darkness like mushrooms." Yes, you are right, we can't let Bannon et al.'s #fascist organizing grow. 7/

But, @CBCSunday, we cannot counter #whitesupremacist organizing by giving it a platform from which it can further recruit. For that is what @munkdebate has become. Let's go back to Orwell, whom you seem to admire. Orwell did not invite #fascists to come and talk to the people. 8/

Orwell put his body on the line fighting against #fascism in Spain. @CBCSunday, if you can see the danger of Bannon's political thought and organizing, why are you not putting yourself on the line in countering it? Why are you instead wanting us to invite #fascist thought? 9/
