Some interesting data in this Gallup article, including a stealth generic ballot poll of LVs!
Final Gallup poll shows D+11 (54% D/43% R) among likely voters. news.gallup.com/poll/244517/de…
Fascinating though: Democrats lead 54-43 on the generic ballot, and yet by 50-44 Americans expect Republicans to retain control of the House. This prediction has correctly lined up with the outcome every time Gallup has asked it going back to 1946. (Though that skips quite a few)
What I wish was in here was expectations by party - is it that Republicans are convinced they'll win? Democrats are down on their chances? /Both
Whatever the explanation I am actually pretty relieved and encouraged to see Democrats much more "worried" than Republicans. We'll soon find out if it means what I (hope) it means.
Thank you follower for pointing out paragraph I'd skimmed over: Gallup does in fact find that Republicans actually MORE convinced they will hold onto the House (87%!) than Democrats are that they will take it (74%). Backlash to the Clinton-will-win narrative that dominated 2016?
This actually lines up with an Axios report on GOP internal polling/focus groups from September: Trump voters "didn't believe polls showing Democrats would win the House." Who knows if it really hurts them in turnout (vote, Dem folks!) - but interesting.

Besides the turnout implications (which is a little ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ tbh) this has interesting implications for news coverage: most media will be reporting a Dem win as the expected outcome, but for Americans, Dems are the underdogs and if they win it will largely come as a surprise.
