The new acting-AG Matthew Whitaker will now oversee the Mueller investigation. which means Rod Rosenstein will no longer and will likely resign.
The Democrats could burn up precious resources trying to pass legislation to protect Mueller which the Senate will ultimately reject. w
A new AG will have to be confirmed and while the White House will push to do this during a lame duck session, it likely will only happen next year.
Insiders know the Mueller investigation has been rudderless politically and taking hits internally. Senior prosecutors have left the probe lately and the election results didn't deliver a knock-out blow to Trump's agenda.
The new Acting AG or the new AG may choose to fire Mueller, end the probe or choose more subtle ways to suppress the investigation like cutting budgets and limiting scope.
People have called this a slow motion Saturday night massacre. It is more of a serial homicide which has meant Mueller has had plenty of time to consider his options.
One possibility is releasing the report and letting the new Democratic controlled House do the rest of the work in public hearings. /END
