Of course, as I pointed out some time ago, if we had a normal man as president, he would have long ago angrily denounced the fact that hate crimes were being committed not just in his name, but WITH his name.

And he would have taken steps to ensure that they truly did not see him as a source of inspiration -- which they do now.

Trump's defenders all point out that he has made disavowals. The problem is that not even the white supremacists believe them.

Big news for my readers: It's with some sadness and some excitement that the new year will bring some career changes for me. I'm leaving the regular employ of @splcenter and joining the staff at @dailykos, where I will become their reporter specializing in extremism.
It's exciting because @markos and his team are gearing up to make @dailykos a major news operation, and it will be great to be part of that. Also, I can do some environmental reporting there!

FWIW, I will continue to write for @splcenter, just not as frequently or regularly.
I've been at @splcenter for over five years now, and am very proud of what we managed to achieve there.

There's a big problem with this story: Hillborn simply is wrong about the SRKWs' primary food source. Fraser River Chinook are their primary feed only in summer months.

In the non-summer months, multiple studies have demonstrated that SRKWs primarily feed on salmon along the Continental Shelf. The No. 1 source of those salmon is the Columbia. SRKWs have been recorded multiple foraging at the mouth of the Columbia in the winter.

I am going to clear my good name against the allegations that I committed perjury, falsely called in a police report, or otherwise committed any crime against Chris Cantwell.
Nothing in this thread shall be interpreted as an attempt to contact Chris Cantwell. I am not writing this thread with the intention of engaging him. I will not be looking at his blogs or other social media sites to see his response. I am doing this to reaffirm my reputation.
This thread will proceed in steps to establish:

1. I was pepper sprayed by him;
2. He lied about it, possibly obstructing justice or committing perjury;
3. His allegations of perjury were based on nonsensical evidence;
4. His claim of a false police report at Walmart are bunk;

Re: Presidential candidates.
President is a job. Actually, it's a pretty hard job. And although there is no other job like it, a life as a professional politician is the best preparation.
One must manage. One must select levels of managers. One must think about options, outcomes
Presidents have to be able to talk to the leaders of other nations. They must be able to oversee departments and organizational structures which would, by themselves, be some of the biggest in the world, except they're just parts of a larger whole.
Presidents must be able to form a mental picture of a better nation, a More Perfect Union, if you will. Then they must be able to see a path from where we are to that better vision, and get a balky, bulky, self-interest legislature to agree to implement steps on that path.
