USA needs a GDPR. Europe is decades ahead of us and the next Congress needs to catch up. The FTC has clearly failed to protect America’s personal data. Our approach to privacy was a mistake. Time to admit it. Time to get serious.
When we discovered that US voter data was processed by Cambridge Analytica in the UK we realized we could complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. There is no such equivalent in the US. What if Cambridge Analytica hadn’t exported our data to UK?
My personal highlight of 2018: Realizing the work of 2017 had paid off. The world’s first criminal prosecution of Cambridge Analytica is because a simple filing with the UK ICO. Turns out, my Independence Day. Essentially, why is a British company interfering with my elections?

I spent 6+ years in the service industry and it was hell. Every time a customer was abusive, I promised myself that someday, I'd be the customer that intervened. Bc those people are rare but man, was I grateful for the ones that did. So here's a thread on how to do that safely!
Note: this thread is intended for diffusing situations when a customer is like, screaming at a cashier for making their drink wrong or not honoring a coupon. Not intended for diffusing violent situations bc I have not been in that situation / nor have I been trained.
Now ofc I'm not encouraging anyone to put themselves at risk BUT if you, like me, can't be a bystander, the most important thing is that as much as you probably want to yell at the asshole that’s being abusive and reducing some teenage cashier to tears—you gotta be the Adult.

People in Florida, especially kids, are mourning after another school massacre.

They are holding a march in Washington DC to demand gun control.

I feel for all victims of violence, and agree something must be done to stop the next attack.
2) The bloviating media and the crazy socialists are pushing gun control as the solution.

I am going to stay out of the statistics game except for this one fact.

Gun control will not solve this problem. Look at Chicago which has the toughest gun laws in the country
