The status report asks for evidentiary hearing on whether Manafort breached his plea agreement BY LYING. This would be in conjunction with the sentencing hearing, I suppose. But it’s not the sentencing hearing itself.

Who would consider this remark smart? If your argument is the same whether a tax rate is marginal, or if it applies to total income, your argument’s unmoored from economics, public policy and basic common sense.
On what planet are these 2 things the same:

1) I pay 70% tax on any income I earn over 10 million. The tax on the rest of my income stays the same.

2) As soon as my income crosses 10 M threshold, all my income is taxed at 70%.

The first is the real proposal - “marginal” rate.
So if Dan the Patch genuinely thinks both of these economic outcomes are the same, either to the earner or the public, he is unqualified to represent his constituency.

Let’s parse this:

Dems “can’t help ourselves.” Nope. We do the right thing even when monopolistic amoral billionaires and miscellaneous foreign and domestic criminals oppose it. Just can’t help it. That’s the rule of law for you. It applies to everyone. Can’t help it.
Jim says Dems “filed articles of impeachment” like we’re supposed to assume that’s a bad thing. Well, Jim, if you don’t understand what the process of impeachment is for, and that it’s intended for enemy-loyal presidents pursuing enemy goals in our WH, perhaps a different job?
Dems are “focused on stopping Trump.”

I’m a lawyer in a movie. The judge sets a hearing for every single motion, hears it the next day, rules from the bench. Said hearing occurs at a scheduled time and I don’t spend entire day in courthouse hallway.
Started as baby lawyer at LA Superior. Remarked to friend how nostalgic I felt watching Goliath. She’s like “ah, those beautiful courtrooms!” I’m all “nope. The hallway! It’s where we spent 90% of our time and did 80% of our litigating.”
(FYI, none of that renovation had been done back in 90s)

One thing I think would help reduce elite Millennial burnout/disappointment/rage is for people to stop thinking that their job should save the world.

"Save the world" and "make the world a better place" are probably just things employers tell you to get you to work for cheap.
Maybe your job will give you meaning and purpose and a sense of doing good for the world.

Or maybe it'll just make you some money so you can raise some kids, have some pet rabbits, and be active in your local community.

There's more than one way to get meaning in life.
Also, people glorify saving the world when it probably just gives you PTSD.

We like watching Star Wars and Lord of the Rings and whatever, but we wouldn't want to actually fight Darth Vader or slog through Mordor. That would cause major burnout!

folks invest a little in TDD, maybe cuz they're excited, maybe cuz they're ordered. they read a little. they try an exercise or two. they learn a little about their xUnit options. maybe they boldly even use TDD to write a method or a class in their day job.
all good stuff -- except the dumb-assed ordering of people to do a complex activity without adequate training or support, but that's a topic for another day -- and all, well, beginner stuff.

FTLOG Because the interview was conducted under a CI investigation (to follow up with contacts with a foreign power under surveillance), the interview was originally documented in something called an EC (Electronic Communication), a non-testimonial, classified (likely TS) doc. 1/
Since the crime actually occurred during the course of the interview, evidence of the 1001 violation would have had to be submitted through channels through HQ, first to determine whether to even open a criminal case and to keep the CI and crime case separate 2/
This is due to legal issues regarding the differences in the way CI and criminal cases are conducted (remember "The Wall"? It's down now but still sort of a bureaucratic fence), to avoid compromising classified info and "tainting" the criminal case 3/

How to read academic writing: Repeat.

First skim for the thesis statements and the major steps of the argument.

Then read the supporting paragraphs under the theses, but if they seem unclear, try reading the paragraphs backward.
Mostly the information and ideas that lead to the conclusion or sub-conclusion come after the conclusion is stated, often in nearly reverse order. So start at the end of the paragraph and try to get what each sentence says, in reverse.
Then once you have the gist of what they were trying to say and the logic of how they got there, you can decide if you want to read the thing.

You haven't really read it yet; you just figured it out.

But that's okay. Actually reading something is often not necessary.

There’s some sort of chaos outbreak at HQ, and before he knows it, Taehyung--an untrained, unpaid, unsure intern--is swept into a slick black SUV and sent off to an unknown location.
He looks around, not very optimistic at the sight of the other nervous faces in the car. When the vehicle finally stops, the doors are pulled open by a very gruff-looking man, his face streaked with blood and his arm in a rough-looking sling.
