I’m a lawyer in a movie. The judge sets a hearing for every single motion, hears it the next day, rules from the bench. Said hearing occurs at a scheduled time and I don’t spend entire day in courthouse hallway.
Started as baby lawyer at LA Superior. Remarked to friend how nostalgic I felt watching Goliath. She’s like “ah, those beautiful courtrooms!” I’m all “nope. The hallway! It’s where we spent 90% of our time and did 80% of our litigating.”
(FYI, none of that renovation had been done back in 90s)

Who would consider this remark smart? If your argument is the same whether a tax rate is marginal, or if it applies to total income, your argument’s unmoored from economics, public policy and basic common sense.
On what planet are these 2 things the same:

1) I pay 70% tax on any income I earn over 10 million. The tax on the rest of my income stays the same.

2) As soon as my income crosses 10 M threshold, all my income is taxed at 70%.

The first is the real proposal - “marginal” rate.
So if Dan the Patch genuinely thinks both of these economic outcomes are the same, either to the earner or the public, he is unqualified to represent his constituency.

Let’s parse this:

Dems “can’t help ourselves.” Nope. We do the right thing even when monopolistic amoral billionaires and miscellaneous foreign and domestic criminals oppose it. Just can’t help it. That’s the rule of law for you. It applies to everyone. Can’t help it.
Jim says Dems “filed articles of impeachment” like we’re supposed to assume that’s a bad thing. Well, Jim, if you don’t understand what the process of impeachment is for, and that it’s intended for enemy-loyal presidents pursuing enemy goals in our WH, perhaps a different job?
Dems are “focused on stopping Trump.”

Reject corporate funding? Run small-dollar campaign? Make life better for ordinary Americans? Liz has everything that attracted the initial wave of support to Bernie - except the penis. Too bad - “unlikable.”
It is so effing weird to see the Berner machine mobilizing against Liz. I don’t want to be that right. I don’t want it to be about misogyny, deep down. But what I’m seeing tells its own story.
(And I say that as one who backed Bernie strongly in the primary. For same issues that lead me now to back Liz. But also voted and campaigned for Hillary when she won the primary. And was creeped by the ugly trolling I now know was Russian in origin.)

Day 7 of the Bates v Post Office High Court trial and I am currently at a deserted Walton-on-Thames station in the middle of what should be rush hour. I have less than 2 hours to get to court. Hmm...
Whilst I am trying to work out how to get to court for the #postofficetrial, please do buy today's @DailyMailUK - on p10 there is a piece about Seema Morra whose husband first got me interested in this story 8 years ago.
Spent the last two hours collecting the car, driving 13 miles from Walton to Wimbledon, parking, and am now on the Milk Float line to Temple after which there will be a short uphill sprint to the Rolls Building. I suspect I will miss an hour of proceedings.

He checks the bathroom but there is no sign of the younger.

Failing to have his call picked up,
he sends a text and starts to feel anxious.

He opens the closet and finds their bags with their wallets inside. It means the other only has his phone with him.

And he's not answering any calls and texts.

He's seriously getting worried.
If before, he could contact his cousin and ask of his whereabouts, right now he doesn't have anyone to turn to.

Just then the door opens, revealing a drenched Kyungsoo. The younger just stands there, at the doorway with a bashful smile.
