They said:

*Other companies would steal their workers.

*It would invade employee privacy.

Now, government contractors can't hide their EEO-1 reports, which show their workforce broken down by race, gender and broad job category.

1. California produces 1/3 of the nation's vegetables + 2/3 of the nation's fruits and nuts; 75% of California's farmworkers are undocumented; California is the deadliest state for Mexican workers, who are 80% more likely to die on the job than any native workers.
2. There are an estimated 10,000-20,000 cases of physician-diagnosed pesticide poisoning among U.S. farmworkers, and the average life expectancy of farmworkers is only 49 years. In 2008 15 farmworkers, including a young pregnant woman died in the fields from intense heat stress.
3. During off-season, migrant farm workers must move away, interrupting their kids’ education. Some kids attend up to 4 schools in two countries during the year, and their chance of high school graduation is only 10%. Most fall behind, ensuring another generation of farm workers.

Part of the reason I'm so worried about migrant kids being trafficked into adoption is because of the trafficking of Guatemalan kids into international adoption in the 2000s.
Guatemala became one of the largest sending countries in terms of the number of kids being adopted out, third only to China and India. (Compared the size of those countries to Guatemala, total population 15 million)
Along with actual child stealing, a corrupt cabal of judges and lawyers declared kids orphaned, even those with parents.
