THREAD: As someone who spins for a living, Melania's trip to Texas, and the show put on for her, is fairly standard stuff, to spin a crisis. I don't fault her team for spinning it, but reporters' job is to make it tough on spinmeisters (like me), not blindly report her trip 1/
2/ So here are some questions reporters should ask Melania's team, if they haven't already.

- How was this facility chosen? Why is she not visiting the tents or the facilities with cages?

- Does she have any plans to go to the tents of facilities with cages?

- Do you know if the center prepared for her visit? How far in advance did they know she was coming?

- Did Melania visit every child there, or just ones selected for her to see?

- Did Melania see any children who were given psychiatric medicines to calm them down? Does she know anything about the kids being drugged and will she see them elsewhere?

- Does she have any plans to visit those parents being prosecuted, who have had their children taken?

- Will she be sending any staff on completely unannounced visits to see centers that are not prepared for inspection?

Listen, I get there is a lot going on in the world but there was too, when I repeatedly begged media to just ask him directly if he knew of Michael Cohen's payments to Stormy Daniels. For weeks I harped on it, often getting angry responses. 2/
Then, one reporter, @catherine_lucey asked him what I had begged a reporter to ask. The result - the dam broke on the entire story about Trump, Cohen, Stormy, the NDAs, and more. I get reporters might be nervous about asking Trump these questions, but they HAVE to be asked. 3/

1. Ok, have some thoughts about continuing to call it Trickle Down Economics. First, not sure many people remember the theory. Second, relatedly, that means we need to explain the theory BEFORE even getting to why it doesn’t work.
2. I think the reality of the theory is that the rich are a sponge and just suck up all the money sent to them, until someone squeezes it out. NOTHING trickles down unless it is squeezed.
3. But the most effective frame, I believe, is to call it Reverse Robin Hood Economics. The idea that taking from those with little, and giving it to elites with a lot. That Republicans believe the rich elite need more money, and that will grow the economy.

Joshua was very much a rainbow baby 🌈 and we were so excited and over the moon when I finally made it into the second trimester. (Alex and I are both big rugby fans!)
I was working as a 1st year Registrar in A&E when I suddenly broke my waters at 24 weeks. I was transferred to Southampton @UHSFT who have a specialist level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They were wonderful, and did everything they could to stop my labour over Father’s Day.

THREAD showing evidence I've come across that suggests the recent murder of a young Jewish man in California was committed by a neo-Nazi, possibly as a politically motivated killing. (Sat on this for a week waiting on editors but now bits of the info are already out, so fuck it).
On January 2nd a 19-year-old Jewish man went missing in southern California. He turned up dead on Jan 9th, buried in a shallow grave in Borrego Park (wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=3…). A former class-mate was arrested on suspicion of the murder on Jan 12th.
The deceased is Blaze Bernstein and the suspected killer--now charged with the murder--is Sam Woodward, 20. (Referred to here on out as Blaze and Sam). See the next tweet for the LA Times story.
