Yesterday, Woodhouse and the North Carolina GOP was calling for the results to be certified.

1. Trump appears edging toward declaring a "national emergency" and attempting to unilaterally build the wall.

This could backfire spectacularly.

2. Under the National Emergencies Act of 1976, if Trump declares a national emergency to build the wall, the House could immediately pass a resolution to rescind it.

The Senate would then need to vote on the House's resolution within 18 days.

This seems unlikely.

On the other hand, Republicans in the Senate have been generally unwilling to stand up to Trump

Calling all history nerds.

Does "laid up with the Grubbs" sound familiar to anyone?

It appears in an 1805 newspaper classified advertisement taken out by a wealthy, politically-connected landowner in rural North Carolina.
By the way, if you ever find yourself digging through 1805 NC classified ads, you're going to be depressed.
The context of the ad appears to be snark/irritation at the ongoing post-Revolution animosity between federalists and anti-federalists.

Lenox Castle, today an historic site, was a popular mineral spring resort in the late 1790s/early 1800s.
