Ok, folks, I know Barr has said some bad stuff, but let me express the perhaps unpopular view that say that this would be a very decent outcome. Barr was a very fine AG. He knows and values the department's traditions and supervised at least two special prosecutor investigations.
He is a strident and ideological conservative but he is also a very fine lawyer and someone who I think would make judgments on the merits.
He also served at the department with Mueller.
Barr would not be my choice and this is by no means an endorsement, but I don't think this is an outcome that would spell doom for either the department's norms and traditions or for the Muller investigation.

And having a person of Barr's stature go before the Senate Judiciary Committee for a serious confirmation process is a HELL of a lot better than having the incumbent AAG remain in place.
