I think @rickhess99's concern over whether or not those who have the power/money/influence to drive what he calls "Big R reform" is well-founded. Because of the power imbalance, teachers and students can only enter the conversation with the Big R folks' permission.
That's a real problem. The same forces that drove what many (including reformers like @rickhess99) now concede as missteps and overreach, are still at the wheel when it comes to shaping the changes to come. I'm glad there's a reckoning, concerned about what it will result in.
