New Shonen Jump launch status thread!

This week's new Shonen Jump chapters are up in the current site's free section!

The app updates are pushed out, and should start showing up in your update tab in the App Store or Google Play soon!

The new site is live, along with the archive and a new HTML manga reader!

There's currently an error if you go to view any series page to get a full chapter list, but we're working on the issue!

If you don't already have the app:

(Shonen Jump is in US/CA/UK/IE/AU/NZ/ZA/IN/SG/PH; the VIZ app has more series but is only in US/CA)

Server issues are still being worked on, and are currently affecting most pages/interactions (reading, series, logging in). I'll update when things are more stable!

(My specialty is mobile development, and I'm not much help while my teammates are scrambling to resolve these backend server issues, so I figure I can serve ya'll best by communicating the launch's status)

Even though the app updates were published ~1 hour ago, it can take a couple hours for the App Store or Google Play to start showing a new update. I'm seeing the updates live in Google Play, but it's not fully propagated in the App Store yet!

If you're on Android:

I've noticed that sometimes the "My apps & games" area in Google Play shows no updates, even though a new update *will* appear if you navigate to the app's page itself (

Servers are more stable now! Reading, browsing, logging in, signing up should all work. Let me know if you run into any issues

This was announced (I believe on last week's Shonen Jump podcast), but for series that are new to simulpub (Act-Age, Haikyu, Kimetsu no Yaiba, Jujutsu), the backlog doesn't have every chapter at launch. The gap between early chapters and new simul ones will be added over time!

I just refreshed my App Store’s update tab and I’m seeing the new updates!

Sorry for the lack of updates over the past hour. I've been rushing to get a bug fix update out for iOS. Thanks, everyone, for being patient!

I want to answer all the questions that have come in, but it's pretty overwhelming and I need to get back to work on (imo much-needed) bug fixes & polishing, but I want to take a minute and answer some of the common questions

Q: No Hunter x Hunter in the digital vault???? No One-Punch Man????

A: There are a couple Shonen Jump series that Viz sells digitally that aren't in the vault, but we're working on it and hope to add those eventually!

Q: What about author comments?
A: They'll be on the Shonen Jump blog! Here's this week: viz.com/blog/posts/man…

(I'd like to add them to the apps someday, but there's lots of other really high priority stuff too)

Q: What about mature series like Jigokuraku in the iOS/Android apps?

A: Currently the iOS/Android Viz & Shonen Jump apps only show mature content if they're volumes purchased on the web. I'm hoping to improve that and support mature chapters soon

Q: What's up with the lower image quality & white bar on the bottom of chapters?

A: There was an issue processing chapters that originally came from WSJ issues. It's been sorted out & shouldn't happen for future chapters, but reprocessing the existing chapters may take some time

Q: Is there any way to see how many chapters you've used out of your 100/day limit?
Q: Is there any way to see which chapters you've already read?

A: Not right now, sorry. We're hoping to add those kinds of features soon (this is very much a v1 with just the essentials)
