"Just jam the frequencies!" and other things to consider with the Gatwick #drone situation...
Firstly, the fact that this has been going on for so long indicates that this is a well-engineered and well thought through attack in the first place.
As a result, it should be assumed that the bad actors have thought about implementing resilience in their solution. What does that look like here?
Well, you wouldn't just stick to 'drone frequencies' knowing they could be jammed. Far better to use 4G, for example. Then you can control the drone via the Internet, and therefore from anywhere.
... and who is going to experimentally turn off all cellular capability around a major airport, on a punt? I doubt that scenario has realistically been modelled.
Or.... why use signals at all? Could just pre-program with flight paths (Easy given GPS and Gatwick's runways don't move!) to cause disruption. Jamming does nothing. Zip in, wiggle about, return to a safe place again. No risk to operator.
"Someone must be recharging them though?" - well, maybe. Given sufficient funds, could just send in individual drones that fly in, do their thing, then run off and crash somewhere.
In conclusion: It really isn't just a case of 'jamming the signal' - It is more complicated than that.
