Very few entrepreneurs raise venture capital. They instead grow
their business from savings, internally generated cash flow, bank
loans, etc. In other words, they financially bootstrap the business. That is overwhelmingly the normal case when a successful business is created.

Median pay for full-time writers about $20k. For part-time just over $6k. Obviously not sustainable for the vast majority of working writers. With numbers like this, it's difficult to even call it a "profession" which is deeply distressing. nytimes.com/2019/01/05/boo…
One thing I'm curious about is the true universe of respondents. It says that the $20k figure is for people who identify as "full-time book authors." I'm about to publish my 7th book in an 18 year span by I wouldn't identify that way. Is my sort of position included in this data?
I'm a full-time writer and last year a good 95% of my income came from writing or writing-related activities, and I even sold two books, but the books are a relatively small piece of the whole pie. I have years of near zero book income but still make my living as a writer.

And it can be a lonely road. So find a community to share your troubles with. Lots of people have walked the road before you, and many will be happy to guide you.

Many #writers wander into the craft with an idealistic mindset. I know I did. I thought it would be easy.

It's not easy. It takes hard work and and lots of failure. It takes being knocked down and getting back up. It takes time.

But think about it. If it were quick and easy, what would be the point?

The value lies in the challenge.

1) Many Deplorables are concerned with the fact that our President spoke about raising the % of Ethanol from 10% to 15%. Please keep in mind that it would be a few years away! I think our President is throwing RINOs at the meeting a bone to get them to say go after China, EU
2) NAFTA etc. because you are doing this for my state. It buys our President and his KILLERS two years to renegotiate trade deals where Agriculture will flourish like it is nobodies business. At which point the bone is no longer needed!
3) Trust the plan!

Our President said two beautiful words to his Secretary of Energy, “Energy Dominance”. Secretary Perry took those words and is completely running with them!
