"May we be willing to do what’s best for the next generation, rather than the next election." – @Tony4WI
Wisconsin's newly elected Democratic governor, Tony Evers, just concluded his inaugural address this way: "Let's polka tonight, and get to work tomorrow!"

(He really does polka, and will do so at the inaugural ball tonight)
Sarah Godlewski took her oath of office today as State Treasurer of Wisconsin—after successfully leading the fight against the GOP effort to eliminate the office. She's dynamite. Keep an eye on her.

Josh Kaul, Wisconsin's new Attorney General, fought against the GOP's unconstitutional voting restrictions—and won. Voters responded by sweeping him into office. And the lame-duck GOP legislature responded by stripping the AG of powers before he took office. He fights on anyway.
Kaul, in his inaugural, vows that even if the GOP changes the powers of his office, the priorities of the WI Attorney General are about to shift—and promises to reinvigorate work on the environment, consumer protection, and gun violence protection. So great.
Watching Mandela Barnes take the oath of office—at about 27:42 in this video stream—and seeing his parent's joy, and the crowd's exuberant reaction, it's simply impossible not to smile. The state's motto is "Forward." @TheOtherMandela embodies it.
Wisconsin has the greatest black/white racial inequalities in America. Mandela notes them, and that he's the first black official elected statewide since Sec of State Vel Phillips 40 years ago. "The gravity of this moment is not lost on me."

"As we strive for equity for all people in a place that has not always met its commitment, in a state that must deal with extreme racial imbalance, We seek to not only change what is possible, but to change what is expected."
"Time will judge us by what we do with this moment—because, above and beyond making history, we must strive to make a difference." – @TheOtherMandela
