Let me share this information while it is still fresh in my mind: If you want to claim your Returning resident tax rebate from ZIMRA a few things you must do. 1. Keep the original passport on which you exited and the date stamp must be clear. You only qualify after 2 full years.1
2. Whenever you ‘visit’ Zim make sure immigration stamps that you are a visitor and indicates that in your passport. They will write something like HBV30 days.. with a pen. ZIMRA will go through your passports and want to see those stamps. If you don’t have them, no rebate!
3. If you go through several passports like me- keep them all! They will want to see all of them. Don’t @ me. I don’t make the silly rules.
On the day of your return, Immigration will stamp Accepted Returning Resident. To do this you must show them: a letter from your employer/whoever indicating that you are returning. A copy of your current passport. And a copy of your work/residence permit where you’re coming from
5. You will need to clear customs and show them whatever you are carrying. Fill in blue form. You will need it when the rest of your goods arrive.
6. When your goods arrive, to clear your goods at ZIMRA you need: a. all passports covered by during your absence and a copy of every single page of them passports. Again don’t @ me. Murder those forests. b. Copy of your permit/expired permit. c. Letter from employer saying ...
7... you are returning to Zim and contract expired. d. Passport showing Accepted Returning Resident Stamp. e. Payslips for past 2 years. f. Bank statements- last 6months g. Tax returns from last 2yrs. g. Proof of residence in Zim. A bill with your name & address visible /
8. Contract of employment, if you were employed.
If you are importing a car all the above plus proof of how you paid for vehicle.... plus other things!
If you were a student- you will need to prove where and how you got funds to purchase whatever you are importing.

9. Get a good clearing agent. Not these rubbish vana Museyamwa. Ask them to make an appointment at ZIMRA. And go through all papers with you ahead of time. One by one.
