Time for another pulp countdown, and today it's my top 10 radio inventions!

At no 10: the radio police helmet! It has a hundred feet of wire - I'm assuming it's all copper...
At no 9: radio darts! How did this never catch on...
At no 8: radio newspapers! Now you can read word for word what you've just listened to, in case you didn't believe it the first time...
At no 7: radio farms! Who needs the pesky Arctic Circle when you can use long wave to grow peas there instead...
At no 6: radio robots! Walks, talks and yodels so you don't have to...
At no 5: the radio watch! Lightweight, fashionable and, er, boxlike. Keep within fifty feet of the base station though...
At no 4: the radio car! Looks like a motorised penis, drives like a dream*!

(*of a motorised penis)
At no 3: the radio hat! Thermionic valves on a pith helmet: perfect for the Tubeway Army...
At no 2: the radio cop! It literally pisses tear gas - take that gilets jaunes!
And at no 1: the radio office! In the future everything that can be radio powered is radio powered - thank goodness there's an infinite amount of space on the electromagnetic spectrum for all this!

In 1977 Texas Instruments, a recent entry into the market, cut its price for LCD watches to under $10. As a vertically integrated company it could still make a profit - but few of its competitors could. The LCD market began to collapse...
In comparison Seiko had fully automated its watch production, diversified into quartz analogue as well as LCD digital, and continued to innovate with new watch features. In 1979 it bought the now-defunct Pulsar brand. LCD was king.
Throughout the 1980s both Casio and Seiko continued to make LCD watches smarter. In 1980 Casio launched the Game-10 which let you play space invaders, and the C-80 - a calculator watch with a keypad you could actually use!

The US hit back with its own innovation: the digital watch calculator. Pulsar and Hewlett-Packard released models with keypads so small you needed a stylus to operate them. In contrast the 1975 Uranus Calculator watch put its keypad on the bezel!
By 1976 the US had reached peak LCD: over 70 manufacturers were providing digital watches in a wide range of designs - some good, some not so great. But very soon the LCD bubble would burst - and price would be the pin that did it.9

In 1975 Seiko launched the 0634: the first digital quartz watch with a chronograph that could measure to a tenth of a second! Between them Seiko and Casio had honed in on the future of watches - digital gadgets!

#Today's story to #EndFamilySeparation Four months ago, Dad and 4-month-old entered at the Texas/Mexico border and requested #asylum. Dad and child were immediately separated and the baby put in ORR custody. #FamiliesBelongTogether
Dad was detained in a #Texas detention center where @RAICESTEXAS consulted. Dad accepted a deportation to be quickly reunited w/ his infant child. However, the Dad was deported & NOT his child. The now 8-month-old baby has been in ORR custody for 4 months. #EndFamilySeparation
The Mom and Dad now have once weekly Skype calls with their 8-month-old baby. That's right, folks. They Skype with an infant. #EndFamilySeparation #FamiliesBelongTogether

2/ The roots of the porphyry system are exposed at surface approximately 8 kilometers west of their exploration area and the top of the system was split from the roots by a fault.
3/ The deposit of interest is concentrated in the top of the system and it was either moved downwards and preserved under the valley, or moved up and eroded away.

3. Discussions about Tzniut (or tznius depending on your dialect) in Jewish culture are almost always discussions over women's dress and behavior. For example, how long must women's sleeves or skirts (never pants) go, or women taking on public roles etc.
