1/ Should've been less hyperbolic & kinder in my comment yesterday about folk who think others r going to hell or that God burns people 4eternity. While I think those beliefs r monstrous (& such a deity would b evil), those who think that way aren't necessarily evil themselves...
2/ Otherwise good people can get caught up in bad systems, including bad systems of thought...especially when taught that stuff all their lives. I should have made the distinction between thoughts and people. Although some such folks are horrible, many are not...
3/ I hope folks will keep in mind that when you're on the receiving end of the kind of spiritual terrorism some of these folks dish out--as I was often as a kid--it can be hard to remain charitable towards those who felt called to dispense their "Christian love," in such a way...
4/ I'll gladly be kinder in my assessments. I only ask that those who abide that kind of Christianity perhaps think about what they are doing, or what others are doing in their name, and be just as resolute to do better...
