People are up in arms about LOC posting this on MLK Day.

Look, people. Things happen in history, whether we like it or not. Sometimes those are significant events that make us uncomfortable. Don't gloss over uncomfortable truths.

However

The attached article is some real BS
And I'll say this: I've watched a spike in outrage lately from many here. I've felt the tug of it myself. It's so *satisfying* to see an outrageous headline or tweet, and strike back at it. It literally fires off some endorphins in your brain that hits a weird pleasure center.
And it doesn't help that it seems like there's more to be outraged about. The list seems to magnify every day.

However, how much of our reaction actually magnifies the reach of the thing or person that outrages us? Often, quite a lot. Which is basically the point.
The slew of internet personalities, whether it's David Clark, Anne Coulter, or crazy hair gun lady, they all make their living off outrage. That's it. They have zero other marketable skills. So don't give them what they want. Fight the actions, and let the reactors be.
If you're about to send an outrage post, take a sec to figure out why you felt the urge to do it, what your endstate is, and if it falls into someone else's endstate. If you still feel drawn to make your feelings known, by all means go for it. But just take that consideration.
(I realize this comes off as non authentic coming from someone with "angry" in their title. Mine's developing into a sorta slow burn anger)
I've been consciously working to try to detach myself from the outrage machine. Because it's just noise. And noise detracts from the actual issues at hand. It's a distractor.
