There’s a No. of reasons to be optimistic about future of Apapa,under PMB/PYO. Let me explain:

1. Apapa is getting a Standard Gauge Rail link to Ebute-Metta & onwards to Abeokuta/Ibadan

2. Apapa Road Transmission Substation is getting an upgrade jica.go.jp/english/mobile…

Apapa Road Substation “supplies power to households,as well as to harbor facilities and industrial areas nearby, including the Lagos Port Complex.”

Upgrade “is expected to reduce amount of power outage time at power service locations by at least 800 hours per year.”

3/ Apapa-Oshodi-Oworonshoki Expressway, originally built in the 1970s, is now undergoing full reconstruction, under the Road Trust Funds (RTF) Initiative of the @MBuhari Administration. Has been concessioned to AG DANGOTE Co.; 24-month construction period.
4/ 4km stretch of Apapa-Wharf Road has already been reconstructed. Completed 2018.

b) Tin Can Island Trailer Park should be Completed in 2019. Was due for completion in 2018, not sure what’s caused the delay. Will/should take some trailer pressure off the roads.

This revenue diversification of a thing - @firsNigeria has done some impressive work since 2015. They’re now set to launch a National Tax Database - a unified Tax database accessible to all tax authorities nationwide (national and sub-national).
Keep in mind Nigeria historically had one of lowest tax to GDP ratios in the world, low compared to even Ghana, SA.

Since 2015 FIRS has pulled in ~7m new taxpayers into Tax Net. They’ve also identified ~75,000 Companies— w/ substantial Turnover— that don’t file/pay taxes AT ALL
In 2018 @firsNigeria crossed, for the first time ever, the 1 Trillion Naira threshold in VAT collection, collecting 1.1 Trillion Naira

Everything this present govt has done is to suffocate Igbo's and their businesses, I spoke with an Hausa man I met yesterday, he said to me that the crisis in the North has driving most Igbos out of their business, for that there is no more jobs that's why he came down to East.
He said to me that it is the igbos that is moving Nigeria forward in terms of business, I was startled upon his confection, I know many northerners know this, yet, those in power wld not give us a soft landing ground to continue doing what we know best.
They plan for standard gauge rail and dry ports linking Southwest to the North, they plan international cargo airport all for the Northerner's, what happened to the Southeast? Election is coming and they are talking about Igbos will get more, more what? More exclusion? #

President Muhammadu Buhari had on the 26 of July, 2016, flagged off the commercial operations of the service. The service has provided 600 direct jobs since inception.
Before 2016, there was no operational standard gauge railway in West Africa, The Abuja-Kaduna Standard Gauge Rail is the pioneer standard gauge operation in West Africa and carries an average of 2000 passengers everyday to and fro Abuja – Kaduna.

Look at the defence of the FG to d allegation of poor infrastructural development in the SE: 'we spent N16.67 billion in the SE out of the N100 Sukuk bond'.

Is the entire capital spending of the FG N100 billion?

Are the SS & SE allergic to new railway lines like other areas?
Why is connecting Lagos with commercial hubs like PH, Aba, Onitsha, Nnewi, Calabar via rail not a national priority NOW (I mean NOW) like the equally important Lagos to Kano corridor?

Nigeria is diverse & this should be reflected in d citing of national infrastructural projects.
You all remember that in his new year broadcast, #PMB says that soon we will have Kano to Niger Republic rail line. But has the FG, as once pointed out by The Guardian, 'connected all cities and important towns in Nigeria to a railway network that serves the nation’s economy?'
