Look, I love Rent with the intensity of a small town queer teen in the 90s, but it is the pinnacle of self-righteous white person 90s multiculturalism & therefore problematic as hell.
90s white person multiculturalism: "I don't see race!" Through the lens of 2019, it is clear that a) only a white person can claim not to see race, & b) not seeing race means demanding that everyone conform to your standards of whiteness, which c) is a gross form of erasure
...but in the 90s, it was d) considered to be Peak Enlightenment by white people, including Jonathan Larson, who wrote Rent as All White People But Some of Them Happen to Be Black (which again is basically how we white folks did multiculturalism in the 90s).

Years ago, I used to say the best time to have money is when you’re young and can enjoy it. Now, I’ve realized that you need money more when you are older. Kids, retirement etc. Don’t be desperate. You don’t have today, you can have tomorrow & still enjoy life.

There is no latecomer in the “success world” or “rich world”. Whenever you get there, you are welcome. You will enjoy your life and almost forget you ever suffered. It doesn’t have to be now and there is no prize for being the first person to get “there”.
When I was in my teens and early twenties & a bit of late twenties, I used to marvel at how some of my age mates were enjoying life. I felt I would never catch up and they were already ahead of me. Tah! There is nothing like that. Today, none of us remembers who succeeded first.

Today a tweet appeared from Jeremy Corbyn.
It used language that should worry any democrat.
But it also used language that will send a chill through the heart of many British Jews.
The period between March and now has seen Labour's crisis over antisemitism reach fever pitch. It's been unrelenting.
In late July (just 6 weeks or so ago) the 3 main Jewish newspapers in the UK all published the same leading editorial on their front pages.
The phrase that was then picked up and run with by the rest of the media from this leading article was that a Corbyn led government would pose an "existential threat" to British Jews.

That phrase has come to signify and encapsulate the issue: Jews perceive Corbyn as a threat.

Did not hear what prompted this, but Trump, in the middle of listing various made in America products, said, "Ten years ago I was perfect. Now, I don't know."
Trump on the F-35: "I was saying, 'how do you compare this with a certain other plane from the enemy?'...'The difference is, when we fight, they can't see our plane.' It's called stealth. SUPER stealth."
