From a labour to School Principal!

Throughout my walk I have met thousands of people and many out of them have had much inspiring life, I met one such person today.

Meet Mr. Ishwar Harchand Badgujar, principal of Govt School, Mukti in Dhule district.
He comes from a tribal poor family of Dhule district. In his early age, he started working as a sweeper in a factory to support his family.

It was very rare for a person in that area to study as education was hardly available nearby. But he knew the value of it,
so he decided to study in evening classes after work.

Many people suggested him to drop his education but he was firm to study.

He became first graduate in his area and that’s why he got a job of teacher in this school.

His efforts and hardwork earned him the position of

"To upgrade oneself, the object to work on is our brain. The process may include unlearning to learn and learning to unlearn. Whichever is the case the #brain can never be over exploited.

In every ideal #society, learning is required for universal relevance and/
acceptance. Anyone who cease to learn cease to grow and signed in for demotion or #stagnancy.

Engaged in a discussion with one of my sons this morning, I made him realized there are ways we learn without alerting our #teacher in quote, so learning may be cheap atimes./

However, active learning comes by deep interactions between the master and the learner. It's therefore extremely tedious and most time not #achievable to be a master of what is not deeply learnt or handed over to one by a sacrificial #learning act.

High levels of an #infection in #Massachusetts is causing both gastrointestinal (#diarrhoea, #vomiting) & respiratory (#cough, #sinus, #headache) symptoms WITHOUT typical fever or runny nose - School children & parents/guardians across #boston suburbs affected for last 3 weeks.
Note the CDC data suggests very little SARS-CoV-2 (Omicron) or influenza (flu) at this time in Massachusetts or Connecticut or New Hampshire. So diagnostic tests being used are not catching this circulating pathogen, or a seasonal coronavirus/norovirus/adenovirus is the culprit
According to the data on SARS-CoV-2-positive PCR tests there is very low levels of COVID-19 over last 3 weeks in Massachusetts, CT, NH, RI & VT. Yet there are several #school #children, #teachers and #parents with gastrointestinal & respiratory #infection symptoms in these states Image

Stolen from a well educated friend: #nurse #teacher

"Among all the vaccines I have known in my life (diphtheria, tetanus, measles, rubella, chickenpox, hepatitis, meningitis and tuberculosis), I want to also add flu and pneumonia.
I have never seen a vaccine that forced me to wear a mask and maintain my social distance, even when you are fully vaccinated. I had never heard of a vaccine that spreads the virus even after vaccination. I had
never heard of rewards, discounts, incentives to get vaccinated.
I never saw discrimination for those who didn't. If you haven't been vaccinated no one has tried to make you feel like a bad person. I have never seen a vaccine that threatens the relationship between family, colleagues and friends.

1/ You've heard this argument, right? Let me break down why it's fallacious in this 🧵

- When using national averages on class size, salary, and student: #teacher ratio, the average rate per child/hour for a teacher comes to about $3. Or, nearly 3x less than the hourly rate for
2/babysitting a single child. At first glance, this seems outrageous, but is it? Let's take a deeper look.

- The most gaping flaw in this argument is that it is borne of the dated #Marxist Labor Theory of Value, which argues that the value of a produced #economic good can be
3/ objectively measured by the labor hours required to produce it. It is worse than that, for it assumes the value of labor for babysitting one child is the standard for all labor involving supervising children (more on this later).

- The problem with the LTOV is that

The research titled ‘The Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Teachers’ was conducted by Turkish #Maarif Foundation in 25 countries across the #world to understand how the teachers and school administrators have been affected by the #pandemic. Image
After analysing the responses, 5 main #themes emerged by how the teachers and school administrators react to the #Covid19 Pandemic, which changed the all #education. Here is the thread with the findings from the research, and more will be discussed at the #IstanbulEducationSummit
The coping strategy is the most dominant main theme used by the participants to manage the challenges faced during the #pandemic. There are also subthemes under the coping strategy such as turning into an opportunity, crisis management, #adaptation, #occupation, #solidarity, etc. Image

1/ As a #teacher, I'm going to get slammed for this heresy, but you deserve to know the truth about "Social-Emotional Learning" (SEL) in #education. An increasing number of parents have raised their eyebrows at the introduction of yet another framework #schools are pushing on
2/ their children. Advocates of SEL have pounced on parental skepticism, insisting that "it's just about teaching social and emotional skills." This is what drives me crazy about education: intellectual dishonesty. Educators consistently masquerade political ideology in benign
3/ and euphemistic language because they know the public would never willingly let their children be instructed as future activists. SEL is NOT merely about teaching children better social and emotional skills. It is a framework meant- in part- to encourage "critical social

The most amazing classroom I've ever entered is in the Govt Inter College (GIC) in Dudhli village, near Dehradun. It's a mathematics lab, and the #teacher who envisioned this is Jagdamba Prasad Dobhal. People in Dudhli choose GIC over private schools. It's not hard to think why.
The first time I entered this lab, I saw students with spherical stones. Mr Dobhal had taught them about the 'sphere' and had asked them to fetch stones of that shape from the nearby jungle. In the stones, the 2D circle had suddenly jumped out of the paper and had come alive.
While I spoke to Mr Dobhal, the students suddenly started playing. Few played chess, few others played ludo. "What just happened," I asked Mr Dobhal. He said the rules of the classroom were that when he was busy, the students must play games instead of wasting time chatting.

It's so beautiful and nicely worded that I just couldn't resist sharing it.

#Difference between a #Guru and a #Teacher!!!

1. A teacher takes responsibility for your growth.
A Guru makes you responsible for your growth.
2.A teacher gives you things you do not have and require.
A Guru takes away things you have and do not require.

3. A teacher answers your questions.
A Guru questions your answers.

4. A teacher requires obedience and discipline from the pupil.
A Guru requires trust and humility from the pupil.

5. A teacher clothes you and prepares you for the outer journey.
A Guru strips you naked and prepares you for the inner journey.

6. A teacher is a guide on the path.
A Guru is a pointer to the way.

The so called Maharaja of Dhar got a call from his son's school's housemaster (The Daly College, Indore), requesting the school fee, while this jerk was having his breakfast. Listen to the conversation and be prepared to get shocked.…
My few cents:
1. If you have a problem with the school charging the fee during the pandemic, feel free to take your child out of the school and enrol in any other school of your choice.
2. No one speak to a #teacher the way this jerk spoke, he should apologise, PERIOD
3. People with such temperament must know the repercussions of such acts, one of which is certainly a wrong upbringing and the impact on their child.
4. Such people should be publicly shamed and should be taught a lesson.

I asked a child in #kindergarten if he was allowed to talk during lunch.
A: no
Q: What do you do while you eat lunch?
A: Watch a show
Q: Can you remove your #mask other than to eat?
A: no
Q? During recess/play?
A: no
Q; Have you ever seen your #teacher's face?
A: no

The tearful mother, who had no idea, told me that this explains why her 5-yr-old does not eat most of his lunch. He sometimes can not open the containers, boxes, etc. - & is not to ask for help. As well, he has reiterated that he has to eat quickly & has no time to eat his food. ImageImageImageImage

The @ONS stats on #COVID19 risk for teachers were based on cases in 53 teachers-2 nursery, 5 primary, 7 secondary & 39 unknown type. They were taken in the period 2 Sep-16 Oct BEFORE the surge in cases in <19s. 1/
We keep being told that #teachers are NOT at increased risk - “they” said that about drs & nurses in the #firstwave.
It simply does not add up that workers surrounded by children (esp teenagers) for many hours in crowded indoor spaces without #PPE are not at increased risk? 2/
As a non-statistician I’ll be brave & suggest that these stats were taken from too small a group, too early in the Autumn Term & should not be being used to claim safety for a whole profession now.
Stats on admissions, deaths & #LongCovid in #teachers appear scanty/absent. 3/

Finally saw @PictureaSciFilm, very powerful film we should all see. Thanks @UBC for the screenings. Reflecting on all the little "below the iceberg tip" harassment I experienced as a student, esp. during field work, field courses & conferences... /n happiest, most formative moments as a #scientist were in the field. Also my lowest moments of unwanted touches & demeaning or objectifying moments from male colleagues, both peers and my seniors. Hard to say this...most happened @BamfieldMSC 2/n

I am sure others are having similar experiences - a little learning for me - happened to be in the room while my 6 year old was doing his weekly 1.1 with his manager, uh teacher.
After some catching up she wanted to make sure they were aligned on the WIG and asked him to put his WIG sheet in front of the camera. WIG is Wildly Important Goal.
The fact that they have goals and review them regularly is impressive but what really got me is the teacher asking his new AR (advanced reading) goal and him saying - I want to get as many AR points as possible by doing n tests per day.

Perfection is a mirage. But the journey in search of perfection is a road worth traveling. Everyone from parents to spouses to children and friends, all of them have taught us something in that journey.

Continued... Long thread
#Part1 Image
Every moment is a learning experience if we keep our eyes open. Even strangers can leave with unforgettable lessons. Hence I salute everyone who has touched my life in this journey of five decades in pursuit of perfection.
I perhaps should have written this on Guru Purnima. But the idea just hadn't happened. Waiting for the next Guru Purnima is like looking for a mirage in these times. We don't have a warranty card against the pandemic. Hence it is "Happy Teacher's Day".
