@LawLibCongress @birds_____ If the Library of Congress version isn't yet available (it stops in 2004), the site links instead to the .pdf of the full volume on the Supreme Court's website. You then need to skim through the .pdf to get to the page you want. Not perfect, but we hope still useful.

CA5: When govt executed warrant at a home for narcotics and related items, including "ledgers," it was okay to seize a cell phone found there: The cell phone was "the equivalent of a ledger." (What a terribly drafted warrant.) ca5.uscourts.gov/opinions/pub/1…
But then the 5th Circuit says that authority to seize the cell phone didn't mean it could be searched. (But why not? Other circuits have said permitting the seizure of electronic evidence implies permission to search it -- no need for second warrant.)
Court then concludes that 9 day delay in getting second warrant to search was reasonable. But I don't think I follow: If the government had a warrant to seize the phone, why is there a time clock on searching it with a second warrant? The time clock is for warrantless seizures.

It would be interesting to compare those who object to how Roger Stone was taken into custody with those who cheered when Trump urged the police, "please don't be too nice” when making arrests.
The pro-Trump response is interesting. It's good to physically assault suspected murderers, they say, because murder is a violent crime and they probably did it. But it's terrible to legally arrest someone for lying to Congress b/c that shouldn't be charged at all.
What to do if Hillary Clinton were ever charged with lying to Congress is left as an exercise for the reader.

Ohio App. Ct: Warrant for drug evidence at home, including "computer hardware believed to be instrumental to the trafficking in controlled substances," doesn't allow seizure of DVR found in bedroom attached to home surveillance video cameras. (Thread.) supremecourt.ohio.gov/rod/docs/pdf/6…
Although the op isn't totally clear, seems like the DVR had a video feed from a camera that was pointed at where drugs were found, so defendants tried and succeeded at suppressing the video evidence b/c the DVR was held to be outside scope of warrant.
I'm not persuaded by the opinion, though. The court seems to think the officers needed to specifically say they were going to seize a DVR, as compared to other evidence. In the court's apparent view, general language of what to seize doesn't allow seizure of specific items.

1) The election of Ron DeSantis has destroyed the biggest advantage Democrats have had over the past 20 years in Florida. The State Supreme Court was aligned to the Democrat Party even though a Democrat hasn’t been Governor for nearly 20 years.

Part of a thread from a former Kennedy clerk. Additional note: with Kennedy leaving, there will be zero Justices with any experience representing individuals in civil or criminal trials. Except for Sotomayor, none even have experience as trial-level judges. It's absurd.
Assuming this is real - I don't, I assume this is just messaging to suggest there's a real process here beyond "what FedSoc and the Chamber of Commerce say" - this isn't a real criterion. It's a decision to consider only those who were once a professor.
Judges and lawyers write thoughtful, research-heavy legal analyses *constantly.* The biggest difference is that their writing, unlike that of law professors, has to be applied to real cases. Y'know, like Supreme Court opinions.
