the advantages of digital scopes are many and i mean, i threw out my CRT scope because I just couldn't feed and care for it, but man, I wish they weren't Like That. the whole Way They Are is really a bummer if you ask me
DSOs are completely untactile, they have none of the organic nature of analog scopes. on an analog scope you can tell the difference between bad probe contact and a flaking out power supply if you're good. on a DSO you can't
on my DSO I lose the beam constantly and I don't really understand how that's possible. i have trouble getting sync on intermittent signals which I never had trouble with on my analog scope. i never really feel like i know where 0v is.
when i'm probing around in a circuit i'm constantly drawing false conclusions before realizing, oh, no, the scope just... lost the beam, for whatever reason. or failed to trigger and i don't know why
i'm pretty good with analog scopes, but DSOs just completely throw me off balance. i feel like i need to have a manual open or be googling up forum threads on shit i understood when i was 13
can i pay like... maybe $800? for a DSO with a fake 1978 tek control panel please
i just really have this feeling that the DSOs are unforgiving in a way that makes sense when you're working on equipment that has test points and you have $35 test hooks but when you're working on garbage hobby projects they're crappy
