Good morning. Trump's pick for Brett Kavanaugh's old seat on the DC Circuit, Neomi Rao, is getting her confirmation hearing this morning. She wrote articles blaming women for date rape and said women must "accept the consequences of their sexuality." huffingtonpost.com/entry/brett-ka…
"A woman, like a man, decides when and how much to drink. And if she drinks to the point where she can no longer choose, well, getting to that point was part of her choice.” huffingtonpost.com/entry/brett-ka…
"Although I am certainly not arguing that date rape victims ask for it, when playing the modem dating game women have to understand and accept the consequences of their sexuality." -- Neomi Rao, 45, Trump's pick for a lifetime federal court seat huffingtonpost.com/entry/brett-ka…
"A good way to avoid a potential date rape is to stay reasonably sober." huffingtonpost.com/entry/brett-ka…
Neomi Rao wrote all these things -- and more! -- in the 1990s.

These days, she runs the Office of Info & Regulatory Affairs, where she's stalled proposed sex harassment guidance + signed off on a rule to narrow the definition of sex assault on campuses. huffingtonpost.com/entry/brett-ka…
What else has Rao written about? Race. She wrote this while at Yale:

“Yale has dedicated itself to a relatively firm meritocracy, which drops its standards only for a few minorities, some legacies and a football player here or there.” huffingtonpost.com/entry/brett-ka…
Rao wrote about LGBTQ issues too.

She framed the push for LGBTQ rights as a “trendy political movement" and warned that “multiculturalists are trying to “undermine American culture.” huffingtonpost.com/entry/brett-ka…
Rao is also affecting policies on these issues. Under her leadership, OIRA is working with HUD to roll back race discrimination protections + finalizing an HHS policy that would let doctors refuse to provide care on the grounds of “conscientious objections." (Hi LGBT patients.)
Suffice it to say, Rao has drawn lots of fire from civil rights groups.

"The Rao nomination is an insult to communities of color, women, persons with disabilities & the LGBTQ community. In truth, the nomination is an insult to all Americans.” --NAACP huffingtonpost.com/entry/brett-ka…
Anyway Neomi Rao's hearing starts at 10. Buckle up!
