Let's talk cats and tummy rubs.
When a cat rolls over and shows its tum it's not like a dog doing the same, but there's some misinformation about what this means. I've seen a lot of people say "the cat doesn't want you to rub its tum" which is not not wrong.
When a cat shows its tum it is an invitation, go on and rub it, but note that rubbing the tum is accepting the actual invitation: wrestle time.
That's the main difference. Both animals are inviting you to engage, but a dog just wants tummy rubs, while the cat is asking if you want to play fight.
So cats do like tummy rubs, it's just that tummy rubs are typically the precursor to fight time/bite time, which they also love.
