I gotta be at the convention center at 8am for sound check for a speech I'm not giving until 3pm.

Make it make sense.
Imma be late and not even on purpose.
And the joke’s on the sound check person. At this hour of the morning, I’m serving Eartha Kitt realness with a dash of Pee Wee Herman. All of my levels are going to be off for mid afternoon. 🤷🏾‍♀️
I am quickly approaching the end of that window of being able to go back to sleep if I can make it back to my hotel.

I am not happy about this expiration.
Going back to bed, Universe willing.
Forgot about a 10am interview I scheduled. Me in bed on FaceTime. Yes, with bonnet. IDC IDC IDC

Let me tell you how the Universe works in my life. I didn’t realize that my Speakers Bureau needed me to stay TWO nights in Columbus. So I had to change my flight to give me an extra day. It’s @SouthwestAir tho, so no big deal. Decided to get the Business Select flight. #thread
A bit more money, but I have Travel Funds to burn, so no biggie. Plus it gives me ALL the flexibility to change flights. I get the notice that my flight has been delayed. Twice. Okay, cool. I push my lunch date in DC back an hour. I get to the airport, and walk past a counter...
That flight is for a later one going to BWI, not DCA where I’m going. The Universe brought it to my attention though. Whatever. I get to my gate and my flight is all the way cancelled. Welp. It happens. I immediately get on the phone instead of standing in line (I hate lines).

This election cycle is going to brutal. Possibly even worse than the last one. So I'm just going to let you know now:

The gloves are off. I don't care about you or your feelings. If we haven't interacted, don't expect me to coddle, entertain, or engage you.

Stakes are too high.
As you navigate your way through this election cycle, ask yourself a few questions before responding to that "person."

1) Are they truly interested in a convo, or do they just want to argue?
2) What does their TL look like? Is this question out of the blue?
3) Are they a bot?
There's a difference between a troll (actual human) and a bot (computer created). But for these purposes, it really doesn't matter. I am making the choice that trolls/bots aren't worth my time, energy or intelligence. I am interested in those who want to have real convos. Solely.

Convention Runners who want conventions safe for diversity:
1) You should already have a harassment policy and a code of conduct, and these should be required reading, and posted throughout the convention.
2) You should revisit that policy once a year to see if there's anything that needs updating. Despite what anyone (including lawyers) might tell you, the field changes and you should, too.
3) You can't control who buys your tickets, but you can control your guests. Guests of Honor often bring their followers with them to conventions. That's why you ask us there. If their followers are assholes, you're gonna end up with a bunch of assholes at your con.

Random thread of pros and cons (in my experience, YMMV) of @CreationEnt Supernatural con locations I’ve been to. I'm only including locations that are currently on the circuit. Hopefully it's helpful to someone deciding which con they'd like!
Nashville pros:
Great sound
Good stage lighting
Opryland is its own little city
Hot tub/pool/spa/gym
Lots of restaurants
Convenience store had lots of stuff, including booze
Jensen usually sings at SNS
Nashville cons:
Easy to get lost in Opryland
Restaurants have long wait times & ain't cheap
Stage is high & far from audience (likely a pro for seats further back?)
Hard to find a quick food later Sun night
Rooms far from convention area
side SNS areas very far from stage

Last week a friend asked about my favourite animal, real or fictional.

My brain had an immediate and baffling but Very Me answer:

"The hedgicorn. They're a hedgehog with a unicorn horn. They don't have any magical powers but they're doing their best."
The hedgicorn has never met another of their kind. They don't really know where they came from. They don't mind.

They like quiet. They hide in libraries a lot. They brush up against people's feet that are in there, reading, and try to get bugs or berries from them as treats
The hedgicorn has seen a lot of the world. Kind travelers have picked them up for rides, they have wandered into airports and been given a snuggly spot in an empty overhead compartment. Not everyone sees the hedgicorn but those that do are always kind.
