1/ The UK and Israel have signed a post-Brexit trade continuity agreement. You need to scroll well down the press release to see that the text rolls over the EU/Israel FTA.

2/ As @Annaisaac spotted, the press release points out that a free trade agreement increases trade between the parties. An awkward admission for no deal advocates.
3/ Also, the treaty is not a complete roll over. It only replicates the existing FTA "as far as possible". We don't know the details without seeing the text. It applies also in a no deal scenario.
4/ By definition, the new treaty can't carry over rules of origin - ie an Israeli product processed in the UK still retaining free trade status if exported to the EU - unless the EU agrees.
5/ There's also a political issue (with an economic impact) of whether the treaty applies to products produced in Israeli settlements.
6/ Broader context: a UK/Palestinian authority FTA is reportedly on track to be rolled over by Brexit Day. All the other Middle East/North Africa FTAs are *not*. // thesun.co.uk/news/brexit/84…

1/ Member States' powers to remove nationality are limited by EU law, but not extinguished. The one relevant judgment to date says that Member States can withdraw nationality due to deception, being in the 'public interest': curia.europa.eu/juris/document…
2/ The implication is that other public interest grounds might be possible. The CJEU also said that removal had to be proportionate and subject to judicial review. A second judgment on this issue is due on March 12th: curia.europa.eu/juris/liste.js…
3/ Finally, it's useful to observe that the UK Supreme Court in Pham, while not deciding the EU law point, was quite critical of the way the CJEU had brought deprivation of nationality within the scope of EU law: supremecourt.uk/cases/docs/uks… //

2/ Page 1. The Home Secretary admits that law enforcement alternatives in the event of no deal Brexit are "less efficient" and need more staff, ie cost more. UK has to change law. So might Member States. In six weeks?

1) How much of a threat is the Spain/Gibraltar question to the #Brexit summit on Sunday? This issue has the potential to be either a) huge or b) to disappear in to a puff of smoke
2) Spain feels hoodwinked. Gibraltar is of huge national interest (and hurt pride) for many Spaniards. Many at the very least saw an opportunity with #Brexit to gain considerable influence over the Rock
3) At the beginning of #Brexit negotiations Spain was promised that no decisions could be taken over the future of Gibraltar without consultation with Spain which is why throughout the negotiations process, there have been bilateral Spain-U.K. talks in parallel

1) Ambassadors of 27 EU governments expected to see draft of political declaration on post #brexit EU-UK future this morning. Should start leaking out soon after if that is the case ..
2) PM’s suddenly scheduled extra meetings in Brussels on Saturday are, I suspect, part-choreography for U.K. domestic consumption to give sense of her battling the EU to win ‘concessions’ at the last moment
3) That said, there are issues on table - such as the PM insisting on language in political declaration implying that her Chequers #Brexit plan is not dead

1. To address a point that remainers are having fun with... the assertion that Argentina will use our #Brexit circumstances at the WTO to enhance its stake on the Falklands... is totally baloney. You know this of course, but there's a few points worth making. #Trade thread!
2. These such signals are as much for domestic consumption as anything else. This isn't the first and won't be the last. We will see a number of attempts to frustrate the UK's separation process in the hope that it will leverage concessions from the UK.
3. Some FT hack has probably already penned a poison article on how the UK will be forced to cave in because we are so weakened and feeble without the EU. As a point of fact the UK is not obliged to concede on any point at any time so long as it pays due regard to consequences.

1. This is going to sound a bit preachy but I'm going to roll with it anyway. The Tory Brexiters have pulled a fast one. They have shifted to goalposts and now propagandists are spinning the narrative that any deal is a betrayal of #Brexit. These people are professional liars.
2. If we had a functioning media the people who say we can rely on WTO rules as a basis for our post-Brexit trade relations would be hauled over the coals by all of the major newspapers because it is not a matter of mere opinion. It is an outright demonstrable lie.
3. But rather than outing liars as indeed our media should, many vessels are actually complicit in the lie. Particularly BrexitCentral, City AM, The Telegraph, the Express and The Spectator. They will give houseroom to liars without flinching. This is what they do now.
