Tesla has an inventory problem. There is a massive amount of 2018 Model 3 vehicles available for immediate delivery in the US. Here is a list of nearly 11,000 model 3s we've found.

First, I'd like to dedicate this thread to our boy @gwestr who has inspired and motivated so many of us along the way.
Background: head over to the Model 3 Config page 3.tesla.com/model3/design. Click through a config until you get to "Step 5 Payment". Once here, right click to view page source. Towards bottom of the page within the JSON object you will see "inventory_match_enabled" set to false.
Eventually this will be toggled to help match buyers & inventory. This webapp is still in its infancy, and Tesla was kind enough to provide us a full description of its purpose: "Application to help drive inventory sales by presenting a unified and simplified configurator"
It is true that the inventory webapp used to look different. Here is a from a few weeks back.
When they enable 'inventory match' it will redirect to: "3.tesla.com/model3/order/" and append a VIN to this URL, for example 3.tesla.com/model3/order/5… . You can literally just guess and check any potentially valid VIN, query this URL, and see if there is a response.
If you find an Inventory VIN, the web source has a JSON object with specs on the vehicle include odometer reading, price, discounts, location, etc. These have been tracked since early January. It appears only vehicles that are in their final inventory lot are added (manually)

Download the data and check it out for yourself. You can look up any of the vehicles that are still in inventory by adding the VIN after "3.tesla.com/model3/order/". Not all are still shown in inventory, but latest queries show over 8500 still active inventory.
They still have some LR-RWD which hasn't been made since October.

Texas has a lot of inventory.

You can see the massive spike towards end of December, early January where nearly everything produced went to inventory. Quickly shifted to producing only international.
Who wants to buy this FLOODED one out of inventory? Full VIN is 5YJ3E1EB7KF191970 and it is still available! Only $43k after all your gas savings.

Is Tesla lying to prospective buyers? Are bulls lying to the masses? Are the sales reps totally incompetent?
Greg was right about one thing though. Credit where credit is due @gwestr
Two final things to add, you'll notice that almost every "MetroName" matches the name Tesla uses on their website for their official service centers, etc. The cars inside the Hawthorne garage, and other unofficial locations throughout the US are NOT on this list.
If you check a SC, you will find vehicles that are not listed, and also do not query a valid URL. From most estimates, those that query valid URLs represent only 85% of those on lots. With this in mind, it is likely that there are over 14k inventory vehicles in the US.
Post Post Script:
Tesla updated the pricing on 2/7. For those that were in inventory on both 2/6 and 2/7, the total hair cut was $10m being discounted on the list price, and another $1.5m in additional discounts that were added. Massive inventory mark downs.
