Personally experienced rainfall atop ice in Greenland in summer 2016, when I was hiking across the Petermann ice shelf....

What I wrote about the experience....
Basically, the rain unleashed a torrent of small rivers and streams atop the ice shelf, which made it hard for us to get back to the helicopter that had brought us there. So I'm not surprised at all to learn that more frequent rain in Greenland is adding to melting.
